No One Mourns the Butterfly

by Bill Keysaer © 2007

When you see it floating freely in the air
When you see it going by without a care
When you see the glorious beauty in it's wings
You see it black an orange and know it's the king

It once was crawling slowly upon the ground
In the form of a worm it was bound
No one cared or knew that it was there
And even if you saw it you would not stare

Then one night it knew it was time to change
And it started doing something very strange
There was no mistaking this was it
It was time to unveil God's great gift

So out it came for all to see
As it flies by it gives you peace
Does anyone say oh that poor thing
I think it was better off without those wings

Just remember this when you see it in the sky
No one ever mourns the butterfly
So the day will come when it's time for me to change
All I ask for me is you do the same
