An Old Shepherd's Rebirth

by Warrior 4Christ

Powerless, I fell upon my knees
Trembling, broken, and weak
I could barely speak.
With one weathered finger I
Caressed His ruby cheek.

"Precious little Lamb,"
My voice, with emotion, broke.
Every eye swam with tears
Even as I spoke.

This tiny Miracle of Heaven
Had thawed my heart of ice.
I knew without a doubt The Lord God
Had sent His own Sacrifice.

There is something about a baby
And the miracle of birth
Which reminds us our Creator
Controls all life on earth—

I'd oft' witnessed birth upon the hills
Surrounding Bethlehem,
But I never could have guessed
God would send me His Own Lamb.

Spectacular sight of Heaven's Hosts
Gave life to my sightless eyes;
Multitudes of angels burst
Shouting through the skies!

Bright Heaven's stunning revelation
Filled us with sizzling fears:
"Great glory to God in the highest!"
Burst through my deafened ears.

To the common stench of human life,
Under cover of night,
Jehovah God chose to visit men
With Heaven's Holy Light.

To the most humble and the poorest
The Gift of Heaven came:
A Soul set apart to save the world
— "CHRIST JESUS!" is His name!
