AGENDA DRIVEN FRIEND

by Janette Lueveen © 2008

Beware and be watchful
For the agenda driven friend
They use and confuse you
Then abandon you in the end

Quick with advice
Which appears to be wise
Their words are carefully crafted,
To be smoke in naive eyes

Their goal is all that matters
Their lusts are in control
Someone else is secretly pulling
The strings to their soul

Oh, flattery is sweet
It tickles one's esteem
It can make you vulnerable
And follow a foolish dream

So if you've had a friend
At least it seemed so
Someone you trusted,
but clearly didn't know

Shed your tears if you must
Then turn your eyes above
Thank Him who rescued you
In true sacrificial and endless love
