Lord, I Go A Fishing

by Deborah Smith Plemmons © 2017

Lord, I go a fishing; I'm really quite young.
I want to enjoy life and have a little fun.
But when I am older, I'll try not to depart,
From Your Truths my parents did to me impart.

Son, serve Me now and not wait 'til you're old;
For by then, your heart may have grown cold.
If you love Me now with all your heart,
You'll do My will, and My Truths won't depart.

Lord, I go a fishing; I've got a career;
But I still love You, so no need to fear.
Lord, it may involve going places I don't belong,
But I'll try not to do so much wrong.

Son, I've called you to do a work for Me.
I want you now, is My only plea.
For with so much sin around you each day,
You won't read My Word, and you'll forget to pray.

Lord, I go a fishing; I've got me a wife.
We're both going to really enjoy life.
Lord, she's not saved, but I'll win her some day,
Because I'm trying to do some things Your way.

Son, it is good that you've desired a wife,
But her not being saved, you'll lead no simple life.
What I desire is for you to be equally yoked,
Then your service for Me would be provoked.

Lord, I go a fishing; I've got children to raise;
I really want them to walk in Your ways.
But my wife is leading them another way;
So, I fear I'll lose them to the world some day.

Son, it's not to late to surrender to My call,
And do what I desire you to do after all.
I called you to be a fisher of men for Me,
But you chose to follow what you wanted to be.

Lord, I've gone a fishing, and I haven't done right.
I feel my parents prayed for me many a night.
I confess my sins and give my whole life to Thee.
I'm ready to be all that You want me to be.

Son, I've waited and have never forsaken you,
Though you've done what you've wanted to do.
My Word says you'll reap what you have sown,
But if you trust Me, you'll not go through it alone.

Lord, I've gone a fishing; I'll surrender my all.
I'm sorry I didn't earlier heed to Your call.
Lord, thank You for saving my dear, lovely wife;
For I know now, we'll lead a godly life.

Son, I'm sorry you had to go through much pain,
But your work for Me now, will not be in vain.
I've forgiven you of all your past sins,
Now, just go forth and be a fisher of men.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for
good to them that love God,to them who are
the called according to his purpose.
