Precious Memories Of Dad

by Margaret Cagle

Every single day that passes
I think about my dear dad.
Though he is now in Heaven,
My heart is no longer sad.

I have such precious memories
That seem to linger, you see.
I think about those special times
That my daddy spent with me.

Dad taught me to go to church
And to read my Bible and pray.
He taught me to work hard
And to be honest in every way.

I remember on Thanksgiving
Dad liked his sweet potato pie.
He preferred squirrel over turkey.
That was strange, I'll not deny.

I remember every Christmas Eve,
Dad brought oysters home to cook.
Mom was busy with her baking,
And she'd give him that special look.

Some memories make me smile.
Some memories make me cry,
But I know my dad is happy now,
Living with his Savior on high.
