Eclipse

by Rob Dilworth © 2017

An eerie darkness roamed the land
As light and shadows blended.
The sunlight’s rays were ghostly bland
As if the night descended.

The moon and sun becoming one
As if the two were merging,
But light was being overrun
With day and night converging.

For as I watched this muted scene,
I felt a sense I dreaded,
And prayed our God would intervene
To stay the course we’re headed.

An eerie darkness covers all
With light and darkness blending.
The reign of night seems to enthrall,
An evil veil descending.

But there remains a gentle glow
For weary soldiers seeking.
So they may shine that all may know
And hear the words he’s speaking.

For long ago His glory shown
And light was darks unveiling.
He claimed the darkness as his own
To show His love unfailing.

And for a time the righteous one
Was charged the sole offender,
And death eclipsed God’s only son
But He returned in splendor.
