My Son My Brother

by Kevin Smead © 2018

A wise son a happy father makes,
And despises not his mother.
A man is spared the worst heart ache
Who can call his son his brother.

When the gospel is truly believed
By father and son together;
Tis truly a blessing they both have received
To thus be birds of one feather.

As one their praise to Jesus ascends,
They can worship at home and at church.
They each on the other can always depend
To give aid as for truth they search.

Such a blessing and privilege is mine,
For this is my happy position.
How pleasantly have fallen the lines
To me in this family condition.
