Awareness

Awareness of His presence is our story
That calls us to a longing for His glory
A salient reminder of our history
His presence long ago
That would not pass as allegory
But was a distant glow.

The things of God for many will be dimming
In the world we have been swimming
Forgetting that our lamps we should be trimming
And lose the love of Him
His Word, His love, we have been skimming
Our light is growing dim.

We can't explain what pulled our heart-strings
Our journey back to our beginnings
To navigate our distant bearings
Of love that once we knew
But God Himself showed us His blessings
Provoking us anew.

His gift of faith to us realising
Awareness of His love is soon arising
His love unchanged to us surprising
As faith will hold His hand
Awareness that this world disguising
It is a foreign land.

Knowing now that when the world is calling
It plays a Godless sound appalling
Though man deceiving, God is now installing
Awareness of His love
And all that's not of Him, recalling
The presence of the Dove.

This awareness first will show where we are dwelling
A different land, where God expelling
From the world, and man is soon compelling
His 'wisdom' and his 'worth'
But eyes of faith God's worth excelling
We see a different earth.

Awareness now of Him in contrast showing
A different world where Grace is flowing
And kindness in His heart bestowing
His beauty and His heart
Feelings are less and faith is growing
This is the better part.

Aware, our feelings still applying
Faith the leader, feelings sanctifying
Faith's assurance only now supplying
What God would long to see
Awareness, settled, love undying
Waves of Grace like the sea.
