What Christmas Is

by Deb Smithgall

Take a look inside
That silent night
When the Child was born
Beneath a holy light
And the shepherds' gift
Was a glimpse of Him
While the angels sang
"Peace on Earth to men"
How can we not know
Why should we not say
What Christmas is

Take a look inside
That manger bed
Where the newborn Babe
Rests His weary head
And Wise Men came
Bearing gifts of old
For the Child they knew
Was the King foretold
How can we not know
Why should we not say
What Christmas is

Take a look inside
Those infant eyes
Even then He knew
He was born to die
He had a choice
And yet He came
The gift He gave
Is still ours to claim
How can we not know
Why should we not say
What Christmas is

Take a look inside
His Father's love
For Christmas comes
From above
An eternal gift
He gives to us
When we believe
Christ is Christmas
How can we not know
Why should we not say
What Christmas is

How can we not know
Why should we not say
Why we celebrate
This Holiday
Don't miss the gift
This day is to us
For without Christ
There would be no Christmas
That's how I know
That's why I say
"Merry Christmas"

2 Timothy 1:13-14

“ Hold fast the form of sound words,
which thou hast heard of me, in faith
and love which is in Christ Jesus.

That good thing which was committed
unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost
which dwelleth in us.”
