Take Heart

by Kathleen Higham

We must reach out beyond our grasp
To believe that the heavens exist
Envision the sight if one could see
The silhouette in a cloudy mist.

Oh sweet child of God, take heart
For the heavenly realm is real
And all that you may imagine
Is what God wants you to feel.

He comforts you with inexplicable joy
Then stands firmly within your grasp
He was never beyond your reach
When the hands of God, you clasp.

Oh sweet child of God, take heart
Your Father God longs to bring relief
Then wipe every tear from your eyes
Eyes that cry to Him with grief.

His promise is your truth and hope
When burdened and broken in despair
God holds your pleas to His heart
As He moans and groans His prayer.

Oh sweet child of God, take heart
Then reach out beyond your grasp
Feel His arms wrap around you
With a love that will forever last.

Now, for such a time as this
When crushing blows of life persist
Take heart, reach out and believe
In the mist, the heavens exist.

Psalm 27: 13-14
“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes wait for the Lord.” (NASB)
