The Threshold of Fear

Today I felt fear,
slither across my threshold
I knew right away
it wanted to take a foothold.

It pounded on my heart,
thumped upon my soul
it clamored for my mind
so it could take control.

I felt its anxiety,
I sensed its panicking
I could clearly hear
its hissing babbling.

So, I took it by the neck,
and gave it a shake
for I knew it was satan
that old, slimy snake.

Today I felt fear,
slither across my threshold
so I met it with God’s power
and from it, got the foothold!

2 Timothy 1:7

“For God hath not given us
the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind.”
