Headed Back to Highland

by Pearl Leona Sturgis

I'm headed back to Highland.
Back to my old school grounds.
I'm resurrecting memories
in hopes to write them down.

We'll talk about the good times
when life was so care free.
We won't leave out the bad times.
We know they had to be.

Sometimes we cry a little,
But often laugh a lot.
We travel around the country
with things we once forgot.

We've been to France with Ellie;
Down the river with Joann;
We learned some tricks of Boy Scouts
by Jack's own helping hand.

There's Allen and there's Margaret.
They're always side by side.
They tell the sweetest stories
and we either laugh or cry.

Ginny's last day at the Bank,
(She swears this is a fact!)
She left there in a limousine
and never did go back!

Peggy loved two Charlies
She ought to write a book.
You really had to be there
to learn how they were hooked.

Janet is my neighbor now.
She knows I love her dear.
Too many more to mention
throughout the many years.

We're headed back to Highland.
Back to the Old School Grounds.
We're resurrecting memories,
In hopes to write them down.
