As in the Days of Noah

by Julie Carro

I hear rumbling in the distance, the clouds are growing thick,
The storm is not quite here, but I fear it's coming quick.
There's something in the air, that stirs within my spirit,
Just as in the days of Noah, the people do not fear it.

Eating, drinking, marrying, 'til the rain began to come,
A flood of mighty waters, to which they would succumb.
This wicked generation, grieved the heart of God,
Devising evil in their hearts, against their fair facade.

Yet one man found true grace, in the eyes of the Lord,
For he was just and perfect, a man who God adored.
So God gave him a task, for a journey he'd embark,
Taking heed to God's commands, Noah built a mighty Ark…

Then Noah and his family were sealed by God inside.
Before the waters rose, and heavens' windows opened wide,
Forty days and forty nights, it would rain upon the land,
Destroying everything on earth, including mortal man.

Thinking he was foolish, the people laughed and played,
Satisfying selfish pleasures, they never even prayed.
Oh, we've got tomorrow, God surely will not mind,
For He's merciful and patient, longsuffering and kind.

Soon the rain fell long and hard, and fear struck in their hearts,
Screaming, crying, begging...please let us in the Ark!
With the sound of bitter weeping, and gnashing of their teeth,
Drowning hopeless in their sin…they sank into the deep.

Now there's a lesson to this story, that we must not forget,
For in Matthew, and in Luke, Jesus said you must repent,
The Son of Man is coming, King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
But will He find you drowning, or safely sealed on board?

For as the days of Noah WERE, so shall His coming be,
Men eating, drinking, marrying, too blind to really see,
The storm on the horizon, that is coming by surprise,
Too late to enter in, once we've chosen our demise....

I hear rumbling in the distance, the clouds are growing thick,
The storm is almost here, LOOK, it's coming quick.
Are you in the Ark of Jesus, sealed by His precious blood,
Or will you be caught up, in the impending flood?

If this question bothers you, and you do not know for sure,
There is a way to heaven, by accepting Jesus as your Lord!
Ask Him in your heart, to cleanse you of your sins,
Then you can rest assured, that you are sealed by Him!!

For as the days of Noah WERE, so shall His coming be,
Are you eating, drinking, marrying, too blind to really see?
That the Son of Man is coming, King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
But will He find you drowning, or safely sealed on board?

Matthew 24: 36-39
But as the days of Noah WERE, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark. And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mathew 24: 42,44
Therefore BE YE ALSO READY: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
