The Key

by Debra Brent © 2019

I slipped down a hole
In the darkness of night,
A free falling abyss
With no clear end in sight.

Enveloped in black
Leading I don't know where,
Lost within a vortex
Wove of shame and despair.

Years of deep immense pain
Welled up into my eyes,
Unhealed scars soon unlocked
What lay hidden in lies.

Weighted guilt of such sins
Dropped me on bended knee,
I prayed unto the Lord
"Let Your LIGHT set me free!"

Then out of nowhere
There appeared such a sign,
An angel bore straight
From the fruit of His vine.

Through patience and love
I was taught to accept,
Those mistakes in my life
Held no longer regret.

God's gift from above
Finally set my heart free,
For every scar I had locked
His angel held the key.
