Reborn

by Kathleen Higham

We will suffer a little while
Sometimes life is unfair
A child rests with the Lord
Breathing in celestial air.

Devastating as this may be
Is the little one really gone?
Heaviness denies there is hope
Weeping reigns in the dawn.

Oh God we ask for mercy
In this early morning hour
Knowing that You sorrow too
Your tears bring a holy shower.

Prayers are lifted up to Heaven
The babe has run the race
Even one so tiny and new
Is filled with love and grace.

Let us hear Your loving-kindness
Especially when we mourn
Lifting up our soul to God
For in Him we are reborn.

Psalm 143:8
"Cause me to hear your loving-kindness in the morning, For in You I do trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You."
