Bring the Rain

by Brett Barton

Lightning and thunder roll out in the distance
Echoing in my ears their powerful existence
Coming closer and closer with every tick
As my stomach tightens I begin to feel sick

I can feel it now just out ahead of me
A storm coming that I can't yet see
It's not something I can really explain
Just know I can sense the upcoming pain

Lord I know I that this is part of your plan
And I have to have Faith and make a stand
I am not who I am, nor who I want to be
So come and take this burden from me
I have little to lose and so much to gain
I am ready this time, so bring the rain

I have seen it way too many times before
Standing outside weathering the downpour
I often tried to outrun these things
Scared of what storms always seem to bring

Destruction and chaos seems to be the norm
Forever changing with each new storm
Hope for the best and prepare for the worst
Because I fear this time the dam will burst

Lord I know I that this is part of your plan
And I have to have Faith and make a stand
I am not who I am, nor who I want to be
So come and take this burden from me
I have little to lose and so much to gain
I am ready this time, so bring the rain
