TRUST

by Deborah Smith Plemmons © 2017

When I began to walk on my own,
With Daddy there, I wasn't alone.
He said, "Come, I won't let you fall."
TRUST. I came: a half walk, half crawl.

When a child, I climbed to a high place,
Then I saw my Daddy's face.
I cried, " Daddy, help me."
TRUST. Only him I could see.

He opened his arms out wide;
In my fear, how I cried.
He said, "Jump, and I'll catch you."
TRUST. He was there for my rescue.

As I grew older, my soul stirred within;
By God's Word, I knew I had sinned.
God said, "Believe on Jesus and Him receive."
TRUST. I repented and did believe.

Now, my Daddy is not here,
But I have no need to fear.
God says, " Be still and know I am near."
TRUST. In my stillness, His voice I hear.

I'm learning to walk in His way,
Through His Word and when I pray.
God says, "Come, I won't let you fall."
TRUST. I've surrendered to Him my all.

When I get in a tough place,
It's to God, I turn my face.
I cry, "Abba, Father, help me."
TRUST. He will be there, faithfully.

God's arms are always open wide;
As a refuge in Him I can hide
I say, "You've my heart, soul, and mind."
TRUST. His will for my life, I did find.
