From the beginning

From the beginning there were You -
The sight that shineth through the blindness.
We slept that night, when in the calmness
We should have watched an hour or two.

And then - the fusion of misdeed:
The kiss, the sword, the act of leaving.
We left that night when all Your need
Was our faith - intense and living.

What think ye? When there comes a light,
The things no longer vanish fleetly.
And yet the cock crows that this night
The Lord fulfilled the Word completely.
