Walking Wounded

by June Shafer

Walking Wounded
I see the wounded walking nearly everywhere I go
They try to disguise it they hope it won't show
They paste on a smile and pretend to be strong
But when no one is looking their faces grow long
They choke back the tears as they push down the pain
But it doesn't take long till it rises again.
They try to disguise it with pills drugs or drink
But the harder they try the deeper they sink
Their wounds become deeper with each passing day
They start to feel hopeless because they can't find their way
How do I know what's hidden deep in their hearts?
It takes one to know one I've been through that part.
I'm healed and forgiven I'm happy and blessed
If you take yours to Jesus He'll give you no less.
Just ask for forgiveness for the sins you have done
Believe in your heart that He's Gods only son
That he died on the cross but has risen again
He'll heal all your pain and He'll be your best friend.
