Fairy Tales

If I could write my story
From beginning to the end
Would there be pain and sorrow
Trouble around every bend

Will my life have meaning
Health and wealth and fame
All the things I long for
So I won't be the same

Can I write a better plan
For my life than this
Mistakes, bad choices, failures
I don't think I will miss!

My life would be a fairy tale
Not one bit be true
There'd be a happy ending
Before my life was through

I'd sit and read my story
Over and again
To get to the happy ending
I never want to end

But I know it always does
And I realize
There's always pain and sorrow
Before the final prize!
