From Guilt Into Hope

by Pam Mellick © 2017

Selfish is guilt, when it remains in the noun
Wallowing in volumes of debilitated sound
Indulgent and stagnate until moved to verb form
The place of dark shame, for some becomes norm

Trapped in self, as misguided justification espoused
Failure and poor choices remain guardedly housed
Through Him, the forgiveness that guilt would rather deny
Where His light allows vision from the souls inner eye

Thank God for His grace, in which correction is gift
From noun into verb, He provides the ability to shift
From guilt into action, where forgiveness is key
Led to repentance, in Him meant to be
