He First Loved Us

by Pernell Rodocker

How does one begin to show compassion and love?
It's not with in our nature, it comes from above.

One must believe in faith a God that rewards diligent desire.
Not to claim rewards or trust in gifts or things for to acquire.

To seek the face, an audience with a Devine Creator.
All things added, given freely unquestioned no debater.

Bowing down in humble adoration, unworthy but the gift of compassion,
Bearing sorrow, all while suffering for our transgressions all in Godly fashion.

Mere words of man cannot articulate the weight of doom impending,
Nor the lifting of man's head and life
from the One salvation sending.

How does one begin to show compassion and love?
Through faith as a child, believing in God above.
