One Light, Jesus

by Robert Hedrick © 2020

The Christmas lights are burning, spreading their light
into the night,
Then for some who make their home on the street,
this may be a welcome sight.
For darkness can put the imagination into gear, and
cause it to work overtime,
Allowing ears to hear and eyes to see things that'll
send a chill up the spine.

When the lights begin to go up, we know Christmas
can't be that far away,
Hearing carols being played more and more every
day and for me that's okay.
They tell us about the virgin birth of a baby boy and
that Jesus was His name,
Of wise men bringing Him gifts and from a far way land,
they had came.

Now our homes and streets are glowing with lights
at this time of the year,
Then soon we will celebrate The True Light Whose,
birthday is almost here.
For Jesus, The Light of the world, came to earth on
this special day,
To be the Light for all mankind, as they allow Him to
lead and guide their way.

God sent His Son to be The Light to bring us out of
the darkness of sin,
Into a relationship with our Heavenly Father such as,
we had never been.
Someday this Light will lead the saved to heaven and
there, He'll be The Light for eternity,
Then as we look on this baby, just remember, He came
to be The Light for you and me.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am The Light
of the world; He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
But shall have the light of life.

- John 8:12 KJV
