That Time of Year

by Debra Brent © 2019

It is again that time of year
When most do take a second glance,
Seek of His guidance from above
Redemption through a second chance.

We retrospect to introspect
Upon events present and past,
Yet when realize our sinful ways
Hearts tend to grieve and turn downcast.

A cycle set upon repeat
Where hope shifts quickly to despair,
Gratitude soon is replaced
With thoughts of life justly unfair.

Remember then forgiveness lies
Within the arms of His embrace,
If on one bended knee we pray
Behold the gift of saving grace.

So as this year comes to a close
His wish for all this will ring true,
That when the world leads us astray
Joy found in Him will faith renew.
