A poet’s prayer

Dear Lord, please inspire me;
You know how I love to write.
When you are my muse, then
The effort becomes light.

Without You, Lord, I struggle
For something sensible to say.
Please bless my pen, I pray,
Each and every day.

Please whisper to my heart
The words You alone know.
Let me hear a melody,
The tender music of a poem.

Dear Lord, You know I don't
Write for money, or for fame.
I only pray my poetry -
May bring glory to Your name.

This is my humble way, Lord,
Of giving back to You...
May Your Spirit guide me always,
In all I say and write and do.
