Sabbath

God has given each of us a rest,
a gift we often see as a chore,
In the rush, we leave behind the best,
refreshment left waiting at my door.

Governed by the desire that is the strongest,
pressing on to see if we can reach our claim,
Burying in neglect the desire that is the deepest,
living in the empty shallows of my own reign.

Connection lost in the hurry that is mine,
trying to achieve something that has meaning,
Sabbath left; there is no chance to realign,
instead caught in the dryness of my dreaming.

Delighting in God is somewhere in my plans,
yet my actions show my true intentions,
Be still; leaving my desires in His hands,
aware; seeing life in all dimensions.

Yahweh's presence becomes my soul's breath,
renewing my strength, growing wings like eagles,
Enjoying its richness in great depth,
never hiding its beauty in the legal.

Psalm 62:5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone
