Why not see His light despite your shadows,
Why not learn compassion from your pain,
Why not dwell in the safety of His refuge,
Why not sing hallelujah in the rain?
Why not see the artwork in the sunrise,
Why not give that which you cannot keep,
Why not gain that which you cannot lose,
Why not explore the value of the deep?
Why not see the rainbow through the storm,
Why not see the freedom in forgiveness,
Why not cling to the kindness that God brings,
Why not embrace grace in all its fullness?
Why not see the delight of His favour,
Why not worship God with all your life,
Why not stand on words of living hope,
Why not trust my Jesus with your strife?
Why not surrender pride before you fall,
Why not lean on His strength when things are hard,
Why not be honest about your failures,
Why not see the beauty of the scarred?
Why not see His glory in each moment,
Why not expect God to do what is best,
Why not be still and know that He is God,
Why not in the Father's steadfast love – rest!
Why not seek justice instead of your wealth,
Why not obey rather than complain,
Why not replace shame with Holy Spirit,
Why not sing hallelujah in the rain?
Why not share Jesus with those you meet,
Why not convey His message in your rhyme,
Why not start dancing to a new beat,
Why not shout hallelujah one more time?
Note: The 2 middle lines in stanza 2 are inspired by the famous quote from Jim Elliot below:
"He is no fool, who gives what he cannot keep - to gain that which he cannot lose"
