A Day of Rest

After life's toil and trouble
Will come our day of rest.
After life's weary conflicts,
He'll give peace on the Savior's breast.

After life's cares and sorrows
Comes His glory of Light and Love,
After life's wilderness journey;
Finally, He will bring us Home above.

After life's long night of darkness,
All the shadows will flee away.
After a life's day of sadness,
Hope will shed her highest ray.

After life's strife and struggles;
Even though His victory is won.
After all our life's work is over,
We will hear, "Servant, your work is done."

After life's hours of chastening,
The Spirit makes us pure and white.
After the Earth's darkest shadows,
We'll clearly come into God's Light of Light

After His guiding counsel;
Communion will be full and sweet;
After all our willing service
Is all laid at our Savior's feet.

After all life's pain and sickness,
All our tears will be wiped away.
After all His Children are all gathered
Away from all Earth's sudden decay.

After life's deepest heart's sorrows;
He will end all His Children's strife.
After life's crosses have left us,
He will hand us a Crown of Life.
