Chronic Dissonance

by Debra Brent © 2020

Perfectionism bears a cross
Of which Jesus was never nailed,
For on this earth acceptance reigns
Not of His Word, but man prevailed.

You see mistakes were meant to teach
Through His lesson plan up above,
Instead this world deals out in shame
What God gives back tenfold in love.

It is a chronic dissonance
Which dominates this day and age,
Between those sins made of the flesh
And dying to that which will save.

Cause when we seek other than Him
The devil swoops in to efface,
And take all that's not rightly his
Leaving our hearts void of God's grace.
