Quiet Child

by Elizabeth Hornby © 2020

My heart cries out in many ways,
through sleepless nights and endless days
In circumstances less than great
On you my Lord I must wait
°Job 3:25&26
°Psalm 34:18

My desperate pleas throughout the years,
Built up pressure spills out in tears
For you my Lord I did chose
Not realising 'my life' I'd lose
°Psalm 17:1&2
°Luke 17:33

I still live in the shadow of death
The enemy so close I can feel thier breath
No longer does he have his claws in me
The day I accepted you I was set free
°Isaiah 61:1
°John 15:16

My choices, the consequences are clear
Made without you all around me, so near
All is broken and disordered, causing such pain
It crushed me before, then again and again
°2Cor 4:8
°Rom 16:20

So just for the record, to make things clear...
When I breathe out it's Your breath I hear
My heart beats because of you
Time and again You make all things new
°Psalm23:4
°Rom 12:3

Sorrow comes by night but joy comes in the morning
Your mercies are new, in the songs that I'm singing
Though the enemy things all legal
In spite of it all, I rise like the eagle
°Psalm39:5
°Isaiah 40:31

You never promised it would be plain sailing,
(she says tossed about, arms and legs flailing!)
I steadfastly put all my trust in You
With You on the inside I'll see this through

You're my strength, my salvation , my Yeshua
My king, my brother, The Lion of Judah
So this is my petition in heaven filed
Yours forever faithfully, your Quiet Child x
°Psalm18:1&2

P. S. I can hear you Father, saying 'get out and walk on the water!'
I'm working on it.... where's your hand.... signed
Your precious daughter!
