The Judge is standing at the door

by Bettina Van Vaerenbergh

These days there's wars and disasters, like never before;
We all must be ready, the Judge is standing at the door!
The sun will be darkened, and the moonlight will grow dim;
When Jesus comes in His glory, and the holy angels with Him.
Before His throne will be gathered each and every nation;
Between the sheep and the goats He'll then make a separation.
The goats on His left hand, on His right hand the sheep -
As they have sown, now each one will reap.

Unto the sheep He will say: "Come to Me, you blessed;
Inherit the Kingdom, you may enter My rest.
For I was a stranger, and you let me into your home.
You came to visit me, when I was sick and alone.
When I was naked and cold, you had compassion -
Now I will be merciful to you, in like fashion.
I was hungry and thirsty; you gave me food, and drink.
You showed me kindness; without needing to think.
What you have done for the least of your brothers, you see;
Verily I say to you: So you've done it unto Me."

Unto the goats He will say: "Depart from Me, you cursed;
Your part is everlasting fire, and unquenchable thirst.
For I was hungry, and you did not share your food.
I was hoping for kindness, but you were rude.
When I was thirsty, you never once gave me a drink.
You passed me by in the street; you didn't even blink.
I was sick, and in prison, and you visited me not;
You willfully disobeyed the commandment of your God.
That pitiful beggar you passed by so often, you see -
Verily I say to you: That beggar was Me.
You closed your eyes for your neighbor's needs;
Now you'll receive the just reward for your deeds."

Jesus says to everyone: "You know not the day, nor the hour;
When the Son of Man comes, in His glory and His power.
Blessed is that servant who for others' needs cared -
He'll sit at My table, in the Kingdom God has prepared.
Blessed is that servant who is ready, when His Lord comes;
To him eternal life in My presence most assuredly belongs."
We know not the day nor the hour, so watch therefore;
We all must be ready, the Judge is standing right at the door.
There's tribulation in the world, like never beforeā€¦
We all must be ready, the Judge is standing right at the door!
