Let me build on the Rock

Dear Lord, please cultivate my heart;
Make it good ground for Your Word.
Please help me to build on the Rock;
To really practice what I've heard.

Help me to grow each day in love
For You, Lord, and for my neighbor;
To be gentle and kind to everyone -
Like You, without showing favor.

Fix my eyes firmly on things above;
Or I might get lost in earthly bothers.
Let me not think of myself too much;
Help me to see the needs of others.

I pray Your Spirit may give me guidance;
Direct my feet on the road to Life.
Keep me far, Lord, from willful sin -
From jealousy, unforgiveness and strife.

Let me always be a doer of Your Word,
Instead of a forgetful hearer…
Help me to build my house on Jesus -
To You, bring me each day a little nearer.
