Wisdom Crieth Without

by C D D © 2020

We've seared our conscience
and quenched the Spirit,
God called for His sheep,
but we couldn't hear it.

He didn't forsake us,
but rather we, Him.
Where once we could see
now our vision's gone dim.

We built on the rock,
relocated to sand,
now we beg Him in fear,
"Please, Lord, heal our land!"

We once spread the Word,
Now it seems we spread wealth
with no one to blame,
but simply ourselves.

We walk with the forward,
live out lustful lives,
take marriage for granted
and cycle through wives.

"Til death do us part"
and "In God We Trust"
are words without meaning
as we walk in our lust.

OH, Land of the Brave,
and Home of the Free,
Can you hear God laughing
at our calamity?

We've forgotten the blood
and what red represents
stars which gave guidance
and proof He exists

White stripes standing clean
'tween the blood layered stripes
The real reason our flag
gave proof through the night

Oh, Say can you see
by our self-centered land
God, we've shifted our trust
now to fallible man.
