New Life

by Renee Bergeron

The Angel Gabriel was sent by God, a prophetic message to bring.
To tell a pure young virgin girl that she would give birth to a King
He said, you are blessed among women and it is important that you know
His name will be Jesus, God's own Son; she said yes let it be so.

Mary went to visit her Aunt Elizabeth, Zachariah's wife.
She was old and had no children, but had wanted one all her life.
She too had had a visit from Gabriel, just a few short months ago.
She also was expecting a miracle son, the Bible tell us so.
As a man he will be rugged and hardy, with a sturdy very strong frame.
He will prepare the way for the Savior, John will be his name.

The Emperor had decreed a census be taken, everyone had to go.
Traveling with a wife, big with child, on a donkey was quite slow.
Joseph and Mary arrived at Bethlehem, tired with no place to stay.
They found a place in a stable to rest from the long weary day.
The time came that night for the child to be born
A bright star hovered over all the night until morn.
Giving a signal to the wise men of the place and of the day,
Where a miracle has taken place in a stable upon the hay.

This is not the end of the story, it is only the start,
What happens from here on should thrill your heart.
It's a story of promise, sacrifice and love,
Of the spirit of God in the form of a dove.
There are verses and chapters in one Holy Book
About our God and His Messiah, please take a look.

Wise men still seek Him and won't quit till they find
The one who gives life to the spirit and peace to the mind.
Who promises new life both beyond and here,
Getting to know Him is to have completely nothing to fear.

Luke 1:5-2:23
