Rich Or Poor?

by Connie K Cameron

A big warm house in a huge stuffed chair
Screams out loud, but no one cares
Sipping on tequila and lime
Tells himself, "It's a good time"

In his big rag top he rides
Down the coast to watch the tides
Random trip down the coast
He feels so cool, he's just the most

Crouched outside in the harsh cold
He's not young but feels so old
Pants to big and holes is shoes
The life he's got, no one would choose

Ain't got two cents no place to go
Not one thing to even show
He's dirty and he smells of booze
This messed up life, he'd like to loose

Alone, and peace they're aching for
The things in focus they deplore
want more from life than meets the eye
Their time is rapidly passing by

Life hurts at times though rich or poor
What they've got, they just want more
Inside they are crying out in pain
Keep going but their minds are drained

Lord, take them in your tender heart
Let them have that brand new start
They aren't so very far apart you see
They are your children, just like me
