To see or not to see ( part 2 )

by Bettina Van Vaerenbergh

Jesus healed a man who was born blind, it was on the Sabbath day;
So of course, the Pharisees, those creeps, had something nasty to say.
They asked the man how he was healed, and his story he told over new;
"How could a sinner do such miracles?", meant some, but they were few.
"Well it's obvious", found the majority, "This man, Jesus, is not of God." -
"He works on the Sabbath day, and thus breaks the Law of God!"
The Pharisees were divided, on Jesus they could in no way agree;
So the man's parents were called in, to explain how it was he could see.
His poor parents were afraid of the rulers, afraid of their hatred and rage;
"He'll speak for himself, ask him", they muttered, "our son is of age."
The Pharisees, wanting to settle this matter, now once and for all -
The former blind man once again for a long, scrutinous hearing did call.
"How opened He your eyes?"; over and over this question they raised -
"This man, Jesus, is a sinner, for your healing give God the praise!"
"One thing I know", answered he, "I was as blind, as I could be…"
"Then I met Jesus, and a miracle happened, because now, now I see!"
"If this man were not of God, there's absolutely nothing He could do." -
"God hears not sinners, only those, whose worship is heartfelt and true."
"Never in all of history, has someone opened the eyes of one born blind";
"He's a prophet of God, I'm very sure, and you can't change my mind!"
The Pharisees were furious, and cast him out of the village synagogue;
And when Jesus heard of it, He came to him, and started a dialogue.
"Do you believe in the Son of God?", He asked, rather straightforward.
"Yes, I would", answered the man, "only, I don't know who He is, Lord."
"You are now talking to Him", said Jesus, and their eyes did briefly meet;
"Lord, I believe!", exclaimed the man, and he knelt down at Jesus' feet.
"I've come into the world", said Jesus, "that they who see, might be blind";
"And that they who see not, might be healed, and receive their sight."

Today there are so many people, who think they are wise and 'see'…
Who think there is no God, and heaven and hell could never be.
Who want hard, scientific proof; otherwise they cannot believe…
Who refuse to come to the Savior, for salvation to receive.
Those who are wise in their own eyes, will in their sins remain bound;
Only Jesus opens our eyes, only in Him Life and healing are found.
God confounds the wise, and the simple He loves to make wise -
So they may believe and see God's Kingdom; the pearl of great price!
