I Believe

by Bob Peterson

I Believe

Be still my soul. Be strong and true.
Have courage to face the day.
This is the goal I long to do,
But doubts obscure my way.

My Lord and God, I know You're there.
This truth I can't deny.
My desperate prayers, to You I declare,
Though I can't seem to hear Your reply.

In silence, the doubts shout to be heard,
While the answers evade my clasp.
Could this be a wrath which I have incurred,
Or just mysteries beyond my grasp?

So many things I can't control,
Or even understand.
But still I know in the depts my soul,
I'll never let go of Your hand.

I believe! I believe!
I believe in a God who has shown Himself true.
I believe! I believe!
I believe in You Lord. My trust is in You.
I believe!

I believe, no matter what I may receive.
I believe, despite what the world does perceive.
I believe, though Satan my try to deceive.
I believe, and to this one hope I shall cleave.
I believe!

There are times when I struggle, I can not deny,
And times when my soul does grieve.
Though You seldom if ever explain to me why,
Still God, in You I believe.

I BELIEVE!
