Godliness with contentment —
Oh, it sure is great gain;
But we must learn this, though,
Through joy and through pain…

It means we fully accept
Whatever comes our way,
And with a thankful heart
Make the most of every day.

In each and every situation —
Therewith to be content,
Is God's recipe for happiness;
It's how it was meant…

Whether life is easy on us,
Or whether times are hard,
Acceptance of what is —
It brings peace to our heart.

Whether we have abundance,
Or whether we suffer need;
If we thank God for everything,
What a blessing it is indeed!

Because it takes a lifetime
To really learn how to fly;
To be both godly and content
Is not easy, but we must try…

I can learn how to do this,
And you can surely learn it too,
Through Christ inside of us —
The strength of me and you!
