Psalm 97

Jehovah is King! Let the earth now rejoice!
Be glad, distant islands, let coasts lift their voice.
Thick clouds full of darkness surround him alone;
both goodness and justice establish his throne.

Flames spread out before him, consuming his foes;
the earth is afraid when his lightning flash shows.
Like wax, mountains melt when his presence is near;
before all the earth, the LORD melts it in fear.

The heavens declare that his justice is right,
and all people witness his glory shine bright.
Those worshiping gods will be filled with disgrace,
the idols they brag of -- now fall on your face!

Jerusalem hears and her spirit's restored,
and Judah is glad for your justice, O LORD.
For you, LORD, are most high above all the earth;
exalted above every other gods' worth.

Those loving Jehovah should hate evil then,
for he guards the souls of his own, righteous men.
The saints and the holy and just through the lands,
are saved from the wicked and their mighty hands.

Light shines on the righteous and those set apart,
and gladness and joy fill the upright in heart.
Those loving the LORD, all you righteous, rejoice,
give thanks and your praise to his name with your voice.
