ODE TO MARY MAGDELENE

by Peter the Poet
www.youtube.com/channel/UC_GtbBeRm8ctYlmNqax4afA

A grateful woman serves her Lord,
Her name is Mary, now set free,
Valleys she'll cross, rivers she'll ford,
Strong but humble she bows the knee.

From a distance a witness to her Lord's fate,
Broken of spirit and sad of face,
Left to the world in a vulnerable state,
No! She'll never find her place.

Though her Lord has passed, she retains her love,
At the tomb of Jesus to anoint and repair,
An Angel of God with news from above,
He is risen! Is risen! Do not despair.

Now full of hope to all others she'll run,
With disbelief she is spurned,
But she knows that she serves God's son,
The fortune of the world has turned.

Her Lord is alive and King over all,
A prayer warrior she is gifted and sighted,
For Mary knows one day Heaven will call,
With Jesus her master re-united.

AUTHORS NOTE:
We all could learn from this strong Woman. Pulled up from the depths of iniquity by Jesus, and suffering the same warfare we all endure, she did not backslide or slacken off as we "modern" folk do when things get tough. She devoted herself to service to her master while he was alive and continued to minister to him after his death. After he rose, she believed while the Lord's own Apostles doubted. Today's Church could use a few Mary's to rally us together and get our eyes back on the Lord.
