INDULGE ME

by Peter the Poet
www.youtube.com/channel/UC_GtbBeRm8ctYlmNqax4afA

The doctrines of man are too hard to swallow,
They're too hard to keep and be saved.
But money can buy what is man made and hollow,
No matter how wrong or depraved.

I feel like a banquet of meat this Friday,
I'll just go and pay off the Priest.
Indulgences bought from Monday to Sunday,
Make church life more comfortable at least.

I don't want to do works to get into Heaven,
So some Heavenly favour I'll buy.
An indulgence will cover the worst kind of leaven,
So I'll just pay up till I die.

I married my wife, but my mistress I love,
And adultery you see is a sin.
But a blind eye is turned by God up above,
For indulgences paid for with tin.

No sin is too great, no perversion too much,
An indulgence will cover the lot.
Just pay mother church and her heart you'll touch,
And she'll deem you without blemish or spot.

All this and more remain fact, even today,
It's taught that God's grace can be bought.
Don't bother my friends, save your money, don't pay,
And in the greed of mankind don't be caught.

AUTHORS NOTE:
No matter how much you pay, or how many services you provide to a church, your sins cannot be forgiven unless their is genuine repentance as outlined very clearly in the Word of God. No man has the power to wipe your slate clean regardless of his position on Earth, as also is stated very clearly in the Word of God. If people who are true seekers of the Lord would only pick up and read the Bible thoroughly, instead of listening to the laws of man and being told how to think, false teachings like Indulgences would fall the moment they were introduced. How can any church that is so governed by rules as is the Catholic Church, turn around and declare that all those rules necessary for salvation may be flaunted, if indulgences can be purchased? I don't see the logic but I do see the profit!!
