I was born in Adam's death.
To sin and death this soul was sold.
Lost to God, no spiritual breath.
I stumble through the darkest cold.
I looked each day for living bread.
Nothing in this world could save.
I had no hope, only sense of dread,
this life of mine, this clueless knave.
I searched this world for famous men.
Not one though knew the righteous truth.
I found not one who knew the end.
from all their queries and all their sleuth.
But then I saw a light so bright.
The Living Word, more than enough.
His truth that equaled all the right,
would break through all the darkest stuff.
I had to know this Living Word.
I bowed my knees and asked Him in.
I had to leave the clueless herd.
His love poured in and now we're kin!
He poured out truth upon this soul.
He opened up my eyes and mind.
With Him I walk and ever stroll.
He's now my treasured, glorious find!
The righteous Word of God He is!
The price He paid, it seemed so high!
He bought me back from sin, I'm His.
His blood, His death, why did He die??!
He's grace, He's truth, He's mercy for me!
I owe Him all, what can I say?
His death as man has set me free!
He put me on His glorious way.
The path is narrow and hard to ford,
but for the King who died for me,
So I must walk with Him - the Lord.
He lives forever to make my plea.
Now ask Him in your heart today
so you can be a child of God.
He'll come right in and clear the way,
to walk with Him upon this sod.
