Come, Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, as a gentle wind;
Or come as a fire, blazing hot.
Come, Holy Spirit, Comforter -
Come, Thou eternal breath of God.

Come, Holy Spirit, blow on us;
Our hearts with God's peace fill.
Come, Holy Spirit, give us rest;
Make us quiet, make us still.

Come, silence Thou the noises,
The many voices of this world;
Bring us always in remembrance
The Truth out of God's Word.

Come, Holy Spirit, move in us;
Stir Thou our faith…
Reassure us of God's presence;
His tender love so great.

Come, Holy Spirit, strengthen us,
Whenever we ask "why?";
When faith is weak, imbue us then -
With power from on high.

Come, Holy Spirit, let us know
When we've sinned against the Lord.
Work in us, bring our lives -
With God's good will into accord.

Come, Holy Spirit, and refresh us,
Like summer rain on the grass;
And remind us when we're weary:
All earthly troubles pass.

Come, Holy Spirit, give us hope
In the midst of our strife…
Fix our eyes on the things above;
On Christ Jesus who is our Life.

Come, Holy Spirit, make us glad
With the joy no one else can bring.
Inspire us with songs of praise;
With a poem or divine hymn.

Come, Holy Spirit, breath of God;
Breathe Thou now on us…
Come, and set our hearts ablaze -
With a sweet, sweet love for Jesus!
