Looking Up By Faith

Looking back upon this life, and feeling down,
Upon the face appears a little frown,
Looking forward for a moment filled with fear,
From the eye behold a falling tear.

Looking round at circumstance and at state,
One feels he's dealt a wretched hand by fate,
Looking inward finding loneliness and pain,
Some think that all their fondest hopes are slain.

But looking up, by faith, there comes a change,
Peculiar to the carnal, even strange,
With eyes enlightened to a greater sight,
A radiant beam comes piercing darkest night.

For from the throne of God comes hope and peace,
To troubled hearts this is a sweet release,
For all our sins and failures there is grace,
Upon our gladdened hearts He shines His face.

So many look around, searching for good,
And no one finds it, no one ever could,
Until we turn again to God above,
And find the goodness of His perfect love.

Then hearts and minds unburdened of their care,
Are filled with all that heaven has to share,
A happiness transcending earthy wealth,
And meaning more to them than life and Health.
