A Bruised Reed

bruised; by shadows of the heart,
swaying; not breaking in the wind,
weighing heavy is my grief;
sunrise has started to rescind.

blue skies wander to yesterday,
lost to the urgent of this day,
melody of pain is dancing,
deep burdens – always have their say.

then Your hand comes to lift me up
guiding me safely to Your grace,
opening me to true beauty
resting in Your faithful embrace.

the deep places, still I find
but there You are – waiting for me
with strength of a tender heart,
a refuge, where I lean on Thee.

bruised, but not defeated
weak, but Thou art strong
scarred by life's heartaches
but knowing I belong.

finding sacred in my struggle,
character forming through His love,
healing deep beyond the shallow,
from my despair, I rise above.
