Could we surmise the power of praise
Within the courts above, and see
Immensity of vast arrays
Whose undulating voices raise
Great waves and billows like the sea.
Those sounds as golden pools of light
Upon the praising hearts will fall
That from the Eternal Heart delight
And fly to an eternal height
Responses to the Saviour's call.
His Majesty and meekness now
Both Lion and Lamb upon the throne
And diamonds on that Holy Brow
Reflect the Blood that would endow
The Mercy Seat, and Him alone.
For Jesus only is the cry
From myriad hearts, His beauty will
To every longing upturned eye
Cause praise to meet a heavenly sky
And perfect hearts their joy fulfil.
Silence may fall on heavenly sounds
As on their knees before His Face
And worship each full heart astounds
While gratitude to Him surrounds
Each one a trophy of His Grace.
A voice bursts forth with 'Praise the Lamb'
Soon all take up the glorious sound
Expand their heavenly diaphragm
And burst the portal of that dam
Oh, let eternal praise abound!
