Ode to the Life in Christ

by Annie B © 2024

Consider yourselves children of the light;
Baptized in Jesus' name, we stand reborn in God's sight.
The old life of sin and shameless guilt, a cloak no more to wear;
For in His death, we find our lives laid bare.

Once bound by chains of pride and fleshly lust,
Now free, we rise above the earthly dust.
In Him we live, in Him, we breathe and grow;
Where sin had sway, He breaks the ancient foe.

O grace, unyielding, steadfast as the sun;
Your warmth dispels the shadows, one by one.
As we lay down our wills, our all at Calvary's cross;
A new creation blooms, and we are no longer lost.

Dead to sin, alive to God above;
We dance in chains of grace, a bondage that is love,
For in this union with the Son so fair,
We find ourselves, our true identity there.

Jesus, the conqueror of the grave;
In You, we live and in You we're saved.
Through every storm, in joy and in despair;
Your life in us, our victory to declare.

Oh, wondrous union, sacred and divine;
Where God and man are in perfect harmony align.
The battle's over, the war has ceased to rage,
In You, we find our strength through every stage.

Let not the whispers of the tempter sway,
For in Your life, we live, and in Your love, we'll stay.
Your grace, our shields, Your word, our swords to boldly hold;
Against the dark, we stand, and Your story to unfold.

In every breath, in every pulse of the human heart;
We will live for You, and the world to impart
the beauty of the Gospel, ever free and true;
Where we, once dead, we now can live anew.

Echo through the ages, let this truth resound;
In hearts that once were captive, now are found.
In every tongue, in every land, we will forever share.
The life we live in You is life beyond all compare.

A life of freedom, bought with His crimson cost;
Where every tear is treasured, every loss is lost.
In You, we live, in You, we find our rest,
Our hearts are in tune with heaven's chosen best.

So let us live, no longer bound by night;
But, shining forth the hope that floods along with light.
The path of those who seek Your kind and loving face;
Where we, once dead, in you we find saving grace.
