Judging Others

by Kristine Stanton

Have you ever met a person
who judged you from the start?
Did they see you from the outside
or what was in your heart?

Was there something in your actions
that caused them to judge you,
or was it something that you said
they may have misconstrued?

Did they take the time to see you
for whom you just might be,
or form their own opinion—
what did their heart foresee?

Did they ask you any questions
or judge you just from sight?
Were they fair with their assessment—
did you find it wrong or right?

Did this person see some sawdust
located in your eye,
while a plank emerged from their eye
that they seemed to deny.
