'Twas a cold winter's night,
not a creature was heard.
Snow fell from the heavens,
winds blustered and stirred.
Rooftops were covered
and the earth down below,
by a beautiful blanket
of white driven snow.
The moon and the stars
shed light from above
as the Lord's wondrous peace
touched the earth with pure love.
As the dark of the night
moved on to daylight
the earth had awakened
to a beautiful sight.
The blustering winds
had now settled down
as snow filled the air
without making a sound.
Children awakened
with eyes all aglow,
and they ran to their windows
to see the white snow.
Filled with excitement
they quickly got dressed
with hats, scarves, and mittens,
there was no time for rest.
Their laughs and their shouts
could be heard from above
as the Lord looked at each
with sweet, tender love.
