The True Peacemaker

with bitter thoughts still raging
no hearts I will be changing,
beauty hidden from my sight
as I lonely prove I'm right!

my bruised emotions to the fore
wisdom is forgotten once more,
rusted perspectives ruling
uncertain who I'm fooling!

doubts covered by my fighting
destructive fires I'm lighting,
desiring peace and comfort
as long as pride's triumphant!

shallow depths I am treading
as all my hope is shredding,
connection drowned in dismay
as stunning grace, I betray!...

with bitter thoughts still raging
they nailed His feet and wrists,
pride with true love engaging
as they beat Him with their fists!

Jesus bruised body lifted high
our peacemaker prepared to die,
our selfish perspectives changing
my guilt with love exchanging!
